THE END!

So, a week ago, on the advice of my stepdaughter I delivered a letter to the neighbour’s house, telling him nicely that he must remove the car from my drive and expressing a hope that residence of same on my drive had been beneficial.

The neighbour is the sort of person who never opens his door to callers so all I could do was push the letter through his letterbox.

What did I expect in return? Well, nothing… I get the feeling he wasn’t best pleased because no attempt has been made to express gratitude of any description.

Well, folks, this really is the end. Thank you all for reading and I promise never to loan my drive to anyone in the future.

  1. Valerie, first, I LOVE the cartoon (and caption). HILARIOUS!

Second, I cannot believe he's done nothing to correct this. OR, that he even acknowledged your letter.

Can you believe people at times?

Well, you handled this much better than I would have. I would have been like the woman in your cartoon...planning my revenge. HA!

Have a great weekend, my friend. Happy June! Gosh, can you believe it's JUNE already?

  2. Ron, I just had to borrow the cartoon, it was soooo appropriate. Re neighbour, I actually didn't expect a response. I just had that feeling that he wouldn't be best please and would ignore the letter.

No I can't believe how quickly the months are flying by. It is scary. i'm going to take lessons in going backwards lol. I can't believe it's weekend either! Have a good one, my friend.

  3. I can strongly identify with the sentiments in the cartoon - - and I really feel sorry for you having to deal with such an insensitive, selfish, ungrateful neighbor.

This happens all too often, Valerie. You do someone a favor - out of the kindness of your heart - and they take advantage of it and literally walk all over you. Then, if you attempt to assert yourself and reclaim your rights - they get mad and think that you're the bad guy.

I have no solution, unfortunately, except to keep trying. Annoy him as much as his car is annoying you. And good luck!

    1. I wish I knew what the guy feels. He has always been a most helpful neighbour but this business with the car has changed him. I feel that deep down he regrets having bought a car he now can't get rid of.

  4. It is always a fine line with maintaining your rights and keeping decent relations with a neighbor, but if the neighbor ignores a reasonable request, especially one that affects your well being and ability to get around, I'd talk to the law and or a lawyer after a second ignored request.

    1. I'm thankful it's all over, at least as far as I am concerned. If this is what being neighbourly is about then I give up.

  5. It's sad when you have to become that neighbor because your neighbor has become THAT neighbor!

  6. Think its time someone towed his car off your drive. Have you thought of getting somebody to move it for you?

  7. It's gone, Dave. As soon as he read the letter he collected the car, no thanks, no nothing, but at least the car has gone.

  8. Thank goodness for that. The pen is mightier than the sword. Well done Valerie.
