Neighbours who care for each other

Last evening, I looked out of the window and saw an ambulance parked half way across my frontage and half way across next door. Now, the sight of an ambulance meant someone was ill or dying. Next door neighbours are almost as old as me (not quite) and the man of the house suffers with heart problems. Naturally, I thought the ambulance was there for him.

I rushed outside and questioned the ambulance driver, starting with… Is it serious? The driver said No and at that point next door neighbour shot out and asked me if I was all right. Behind her was her husband who was in fits of laughter. Apparently the ambulance driver and his mate were just having a rest!

This silly incident is proof positive that neighbours care about each other. What a joy!

  1. That seems like a strange place for an ambulance driver to have a rest, but I'm certainly glad that he wasn't there for an emergency.
Thankfully your neighbors were all right - and it's good that they were concerned about you.

Unusual incidents like this often have a positive way of bringing people together.
Take it easy and have a pleasant weekend!

  6. OMG...how hysterical, Valerie!!! But I have to say, initially I thought you were going share about a serious matter. Isn't funny though how when you see an ambulance, you immediately get concerned?

    1. It was an interesting encounter, Ron. However, my guess is that neighbours will all be back in their comfortable homes and the incident will be forgotten.I will soon you now if it is otherwise... if the shock doesn't killme first hahaha.

  7. So glad that you (and I) have loving and caring neighbors.
When I hear an ambulance or a fire truck go by our home with its sirens screaming and its lights blaring, I stop and say a prayer for whoever is in need.
We all need to love and care for each other.
Sending you another hug from Georgia (USA.)
    Love,
    Jackie

    1. Yes we do need love and care but sadly few neighbours seems to know that.

  8. Glad it wasn't anything but just someone needing rest! It is nice to see neighbors caring for each other. Our neighborhood is not like that. I keep saying I need to make an effort to meet more of the neighbors but never seem to do much about it. Been here 4 years and just wave at people as they drive by. Might have to remedy that soon!

    1. Hello Betty. Sad to say that although incidents such as the one just enjoyed produce good feelings from neighbours they are few and far between. I could go a whole year with no-one to speak to. However, I guess they emerge at the right times.

  9. At least now you know the neighbours care. I used to see ambulances here quite often, not so much now. Some of the really old people have died so they no longer get taken to hospital each winter, or in the heatwaves of summer. Most often now they come to take care of those who have overdosed on medications.

    1. Heehee, there is bunch of oldies where I live... maybe that's why they/we are not seen or heard.

  10. Haha, I'm glad it wasn't serious. I would assumed it was connected to the dreaded Covid-19 virus!

    1. Dave, they rally round when there's an emergency or something.... other times they are never seen. That's okay, honestly, but sometimes I wish they would stop for a chat when there's no emergency. Sorry, I'm not ungrateful but it does sound that way.

  13. Nothing like an ambulance to rouse neighbors from their home to check on each other; love it!
