Memories thrive
Times when courting
Happy … alive.
Happy couple
Hand in hand
Wading in
The sea and sand.
Sunrays, sunshine
Carefree fun
Crowded beach
Tan overdone.
Sunscreen reminder
Paid no heed
Soreness, sorrow
Regretful deed.
Specialist implored
‘Heed my advice’
He was ignored
Yet he said it twice.

Valerie, I absolutely LOVE this! And I don't recall reading it in 2012, I find odd, because you and I were definitely blogging together back then. You are sooooo clever with words! Love the part about "tan overdone and sunscreen reminder." HA!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the smiles this Sunday afternoon.
Hope you're having a delightful day, my friend!

Hi Ron. Maybe you missed it because it was your day off....lol. I think there must have been a reason for writing this but I'm blowed if I can remember. Perhaps it was one of those years when folk spent too much time in the sun and suffered afterwards.
DeleteHope your week is a good one, dear friend.
Super poem Valerie, do you get your ideas from your own life? Your words are woven together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise. I don't know where the ideas come from. Perhaps it was one of those years when people should have taken precautions and didn't.
DeleteHappy....Alive pretty much says it all.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Susan.
DeleteA short poem which says so much and on many levels, thanks Valerie. This was a "new" one for me as I;m a fairly new blog reader.
ReplyDeletePoetry doesn"t come easy to me, I prefer writing.proper stories.
