THIS AND THAT

1. Feeding Charlie, put food in bowl and present it to him.  No, didn't want that. I said, "I suppose you want sweeties" at which he jumped on the kitchen counter and started licking my cheek. You have to laugh at how well he's mastered the English language.

2. As a young girl I used to laugh at my Grandmother when she sat in her chair twiddling her thumbs. Never thought I would do the same when I was older.

3. With so many fires being reported I keep thinking of the old saying 'the world will be destroyed by fire'.

4. The lawn looked like straw in the recent heatwave but a leaflet through the door assured it could be fixed in hours. I felt like returning the leaflet with the comment:  bring your own paint.

5. I can read email perfectly well and can reply perfectly well. However, a new Google system includes three suggestions with which to reply. Why the heck don't they leave things alone? It insults my brain power.

6. Two bricks fell out of low wall on front garden. Neighbouring ladies fixed it, no problem, so long as I pay for cement. Still waiting for the bill.

7. Extreme heat seized locks on three doors and central heating switched on when it shouldn't. An easy fix for both, apparently. Surely nothing else can go wrong!

8. The last of the workmen has been and gone... and I wasted no time calling one of them back,  hopefully to start another job in the garden.

9. To think I pay to watch rubbish on television!

10. Hair cut day. New hairdresser comes to house and charges a measly sum. Gone are the days when I had to visit hairdresser by taxi and pay extortionate price for simple cut. The difference is £13 as opposed to £38 plus £9 taxi = £47.

It was a comment posted against my previous post entitled I AM SO ASHAMED.

Isn't it about time people like this were executed!!!

This is the fourth attached to my posts by 'presumably' different people so this time I thought I would make a big display of it.

I in addition to my buddies happened to be digesting the excellent points located on your web site and then all of the sudden I had an awful feeling I never expressed respect to the site owner for them. All the men were absolutely thrilled to read through them and have now in truth been having fun with them. Thank you for actually being indeed kind and then for obtaining this kind of excellent useful guides most people are really desperate to know about. My honest regret for not expressing appreciation to earlier. coffee maker in 2018 on I AM SOOOO ASHAMED

  1. Oh yes, I get those things too. Haircuts? I still go out. And I tip 20% if I like the result.

HA! OMG Valerie, that is SO cute!

"Google system includes three suggestions with which to reply. Why the heck don't they leave things alone? It insults my brain power."

OMG...I soooooooooooo agree! Google is constantly changing things. And not changing them for the better, changing them for the worst. I absolutely cannot stand their new Gmail account. It's too bulky and takes FOREVER to load.

Isn't television horrible? It's the same here in the US. Which is why I got rid of my TV. Anytime I want to watch the news or a movie, I just stream it through my computer. I never really liked TV, so it was a relief to finally toss my television in the trash.

I can't even understand the comment posted from your previous post. I mean what did they even mean?!?!? This is why I will ALWAYS moderate/screen comments on my blog. There so many weird people out there.

Have a great rest of your week, my friend!
    X to you and Charlie

  3. Ron, I think the craziness of the guy (or whatever) who left that comment on my blog was due to insanity. It's not the first time he or it has appeared on my blog.

It is interesting to hear that other TV services are as bad as ours. Give me the radio any time.

You too have a good week, what is left of it x

  4. A lovely read as always. I have often said we think we are training our pets, but I also think they are training us :) I also often think I am looking more and more like my grandmother. As for the fires we have had our fair share of them here in the States, but this morning I was looking at a news post from Paignton (Devonshire) one of my old haunts back in the day, and from the photos it looked dreadful, a big fire in a row of houses started in a fish and chip shop, caused by the chip fryer. It rained heavily today, maybe caused by the same weather system from the hurricane down south. Don't quote me on that, not really sure but it rained buckets and was a bit windy. Glad your workmen fixed things for you and the neighbor ladies. I see a lot of rubbish on TV too and we are seriously thinking of calling it quits as we do will keep the internet and already stream things in quite a bit. Google? Haven't paid too much attention so will check that out. I dislike change! I get my hair cut when I am desperately needing it done. Not my favorite thing to do going to the hair dressers. As for the message, have had a few of those myself but put them in the spam folder immediately. Sometimes I wonder if translation from another language makes them sound a bit stranger. I have used Google Translate occasionally. They are a lot better than they used to be in that area and I enjoy talking to blogging friends who speak their own language.

  5. I agree with you on everything, Denise, and thank you for your commonsense comments. The storms have reached my area but a little more gentle than some areas. Message to self, look at Google Translate.

  6. Ignore comments like the one you posted and do not hesitate to delete then and report as spam Valerie. I don't moderate comments, but do try and check comments every few days and now and then one slips in on an older post and it doesn't stick around! And, yes animals are smart, especially cats who let owners think they own them. We do not subscribe to any cable services for TV and most of my viewing is online now.

    1. I have tried on-line viewing when TV has let me down but I'm not sure about doing it full time. I suppose if I did selective viewing it would be fine but I have to admit that, now that I am on my own, the TV is company. However, when TV is off I do have the radio on. Maybe I should review my viewing habits.
