Driver's Nightmare, by me

Driver’s nightmare

(by me)
Green light says Go
Indicate, turn right
Foot down, hurrying
Home for the night
Ball speeds towards him
Just a game
Football crazy, future fame?
Parents’ tears shed
On fragrant flowers
He wouldn’t be told
That son of ours
Who can they blame?
Who was remiss?
There should be a law
To stop upsets

    1. In the days of football on roads this sort of thing often happened.

  4. Great poem with a message. I see they have twenty miles per hour speed limits in a lot of residential areas in England.

    1. They have indeed, Dave. It's a pity nobody takes any notice unless there's a cop car present. People here seem to like breaking the law. The only way to stop them is to install traffic lights every 100 yards!!

  5. Poor guy! Poor family! Life starts and ends in split seconds. Your poem says so much.

Here 30 mph is often taken as a suggestion. Speed bumps are deterrents, irritating but definitely slows one down.

  6. Hi Susan, we are down to 20 mph on quiet roads, simply because those are the road the speed merchants like most. Not that it makes any difference, the more restrictions there are the faster the hooligan drivers go.
