The Derry Air

I always feel nostalgic when I hear The Derry Air, otherwise known as Danny Boy. It was my father's favourite piece of music so I thought I'd share it and My Dad with my friends.
It is played by the ever popular Phil Coulter.

  3. Val...We have a hymn in our hymnal with this tune....and it is one of my all time favorites! This always makes me misty-eyed. Thank you for posting a song close to my heart..and I'm happy to know that it is one of your Dad's. The video that accompanies it is beautiful. To walk where he walks...stand where he stands....sit....and drinnk in the peace that surrounds him....that would be such a blessing to me.
You know that I wipe my eyes...
Yes, you know that, my friend.
    Love,
    Jackie

  4. My Father in law is called Dan and when his sister sang this at his 60th birthday, there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

  10. It is such a peaceful, tranquil tune Valerie, but ironically it started life as a World War 1 recruiting song, well the Danny Boy version anyway.
Phil Coulter has some lovely compilation CD's, very relaxing music. (He also once wrote hit songs for the Bay City Rollers).
    Have a nice weekend.
