We think March should be spring-like because we've got used
to it being that way. According to the weather experts March was the coldest
for fifty years. Wasn’t it a shock to have so much snow and ice when we were
led to believe that when weather experts refer to it as Spring they’re telling fibs?
It just shows how we've become accustomed to a different climate. Remember the
old rhyme:
The March wind doth
blow and we shall have snow,
And what will the
Robin do then, poor thing.
He’ll sit in a barn
and keep himself warm
And hide his head
under his wing, poor thing.
Years ago when my son was at school his tutor told his class
that there would be another ice age. He didn’t know exactly when but my guess is that it’s on its way.
I am waiting to see what April brings. According to folklore
it should be rainy which isn’t a lot better than snow showers in degrees of
dampness; it just penetrates faster. So I’m going to sing along with Al Jolson
in the hope that it makes me feel better. When April Showers come your way.....
Oh, I so feel your pain. LOL I'm adoring others photos of tulips and flowering trees....ours will get there eventually, I'm sure. We're still watching snow verrrry slowly melt. At least it didn't snow last weekend? LOL Seems it's showed up every week for the past six. Last week was a first! A step in the right direction?
ReplyDelete*sigh*
Heck, we've had snow in May. LOL I'm gonna try to be hopeful that's not THIS YEAR.
I feel bad for the groundhog...but not THAT bad. :-/
ha. we are a week away from snow...though it has been cold as well, it is starting to get warmer so i will send some your way if you want...am hoping this is not the ice age...i might need to get a better coat...smiles.
ReplyDeleteWow, now she's quite enraptured, isn't she! Still waiting for spring here too. But judging from the "amorous" wild turkeys I've seen, it shouldn't be too long! LOL
ReplyDeleteI remember snow in June but we desperately need some warmth right now don't we? :(
ReplyDeleteValerie, I LOVE THIS POST!!!!
ReplyDeleteEspecially the clip of Al Jolson because it reminded me of when I was a kid and watching his movies with my mother on a Saturday afternoon. She loved Al Jolson.

Yup, I wouldn't be surprised. Since I last posted on my blog about what beautiful spring weather we were having, it suddenly shifted back to winter weather. It's FREEZING here now. And bet we get more snow this month.
Great post, dear lady!
X
I am hoping for a little spring when I return to MO. They had snow in Kansas City Tuesday so I don't know? It has been beautiful in Santa Barbara, CA.
ReplyDeleteMel, we've had snow in May but not for a long time. I don't want it again, not on my birthday...lol.
ReplyDeleteBrian, send warm weather QUICKLY... smiles.
Pearl, we definitely sine warm weather.... today was a killer. I'm wearing so many layers I wonder I can move.
BC, I think I'll move to Santa Barbara...grins.
Hi Ron. I felt a definite swing back to my youth when I watched the video. I thought Al Jolsen was the tops.
ReplyDeleteSince writing this post the weather has turned even colder, it's the wind you know. I just can't get warm. Oh well, see what the weekend brings :O)
I hear that people who live in areas that see seasonal changes that the first week of winter is fun, but after that they're cursing the snow. I'm quite content to live in San Diego where the weather is great 90% of the time. There's nothing like going for a nice, warm run after work!
ReplyDeleteHi Herman. Wow 90% ... Move over, I'll be right there.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a LOT of snow this March. I am very anxious for it to get warmer out so I can sit on my patio and open my windows to let the fresh air inside! A lot of rain is coming our way next week, so come on flowers, start to bud!
ReplyDeleteooh Val ..
ReplyDeleteYou just need to move across
the big pond and into Florida..
We had NO WINTER.. barely sweater
weather a couple of nights...
maybe we should switch homes during
the winter months... I would love snow.
