A few more thoughts.....

1. Have been forced to change computer repair man. The other one says he will come out but doesn’t show up. That’s no good to me! Printer has taken a turn for the worst. New expert booked for same day visit.

2. New expert knew straight away what the problem was. He stayed long enough to adjust a few things so now I know who to call when things go wrong again. Above printer fine… I was using the wrong number ink! No wonder the other guy doesn’t show up - it was him that put the wrong number ink in my machine !!!!!!!!!

3. Fireworks not too bad this year, I wonder how many folk just couldn’t be bothered.

4. Fed the birds early this morning. They were queuing early and I felt sorry for them on such a chilly day.

5. Did I tell you that a lady is paid to keep me company twice a week. I had gone through a bad patch of silent loneliness which has eased through her companionship. Comes to something when I have to pay someone to visit but it has been worth it. Actually, she doesn’t get the money, it goes to the firm she works for.

6. Supermarket gave me 3 tubs of creamed potato mash which I didn’t ask for or want. Am asking all the neighbours if they want some!!

7. Complained to the firm who sent the potato mash and they refunded the money.

8. As I type the sunshine is blinding. Pity there’s no warmth in it.

9. My knowledge of mechanical things is leaving me. Is this normal when old age creeps in?

10. Finally….. ok, I’ll call it THE END and sign off.

  1. Valerie, don't you just love he work ethics of some people? It's like they don't care. People make mistakes, that's only normal. However, if you make a mistake have the ethics to correct it. And speaking of printers, my computer printer is acting weird as well. I think it's because I need to replace BOTH ink cartridge. That's how these companies get you, if you run out of ink in one cartridge, they make you replace both of them in order for them to work. And ink cartridges are so expensive!

"I had gone through a bad patch of silent loneliness which has eased through her companionship." I think it's great that you found someone who provides company twice a week and that it's worth it. That's awesome!

We've had a bit of colder (actually, freezing) weather the past few days. We also had a tiny of bit of rain/snow at the beginning of the week. People here are already complaining, but considering the intense heat and humidity I had to put up with this past summer, I welcome this weather.

Wishing you a super weekend, dear friend!

    X to you and Charlie

  2. Wrong inkjets? Printers are so frustrating. Computers are so frustrating.

Bless you and those around you.

    1. I could quite cheerfully throw the computer in the bin but my needs stop me.

  3. I don't know what potato mash is, but it sounds like something I would not want even for free.

    1. Mash is what the name implies. Boil potatoes, when cooked mash them with a fork or other implement, then mix the 'mash' with butter and milk.

    1. Thank you. It's easier to remember stuff when I jot things on a list. The memory isn't what it was!!

  5. Reading and writing blogs is a great way of alleviating loneliness and communicating. Making lists is a very good idea. I always forget things if I don't make a list.

    1. It has helped, but now the typing skill is waning it gets harder. However, I shall persevere.

  6. Paying for someone to visit is sort of like paying for computer servicing. As long as the outcome is beneficial to your well being; it's worth it!

    1. I hesitated about paying for someone to talk to... but now that a nice lady has made an impression I am thankful for her presence. She also helps with the heavier jobs that need doing so it is all worth the money.

  7. Your lady who visits sounds brilliant. How do you find such a person - I know one or two folks who would very much like a regular visit like this just to keep them involved with life. Phone calls are not quite the same. We all live such far scattered lives these days, don't we?

  9. It's infuriating to know that the printer "expert" used the wrong number ink! I'm glad things were finally straightened out. My printer hasn't been working for a long time, and I'm not in the mood to go through the trouble of getting a new one.
And printer ink is so incredibly expensive nowadays! The ink almost costs as much as the printer.

We call them mashed potatoes here in the U.S. and I like them. I would definitely eat any potato mash that you wanted to give away.

    Take care and keep warm!

    1. I am not likely to have any mashed potatoes to spare... I love them so. I was wondering what to do for dinner today, now I know!

  10. Valerie, how awful that the printer problem was caused by an incompetent repair person! Glad it is sorted out now and at least you have a new contact person. I am glad that the lady who visits has helped you and I can understand your feelings is loneliness. Although we live in an apartment complace with several hundred people, there is a lot of disconnect and people who are also lonely. I have made friends with a couple of residents older than myself and our get togethers have been rewarding for all.
