1. Got fed-up with having to go in an ‘outside’ room (conservatory) to get stuff from the fridge so my helper helped me move it to an inside room. Much better.
2. A letter telling me my car insurance was due….my response made them laugh when I told them I hadn’t driven or owned a car for four years.
3. Accepted invitation to join group that helps people living alone. What a shock to find out I had to pay highly for the privilege especially as it all happens in own home.
4. Wish I could find an easy way to make a double bed without having to walk miles round and round.
5. Colourful cats in my garden, black, white, ginger, grey, black and white, not all at once but all friendly. How unusual would it be to have them all at once?
6. A good friend wasn’t well but I didn’t know she had gone into a home. She doesn’t know people, anymore, including her husband. So very sad.
7. Cottage pie for lunch today…. I do love it.
8. More problems with central heating. Guy says he will come out to sort it but doesn’t show.
9. Ladies next door are the helpful kind, not sure what I would do without them so I hope they never move.
10. It’s awfully quiet on line, where is everybody?
Valerie, isn't it funny how cats sleep all day, and are active at night? They're like little vampires. HA! Very often (when I had my two cats) I would wake up out of a dead sleep because they are running all over my apartment playing with each other. And sometimes they would roll in a ball all over the floor in my bedroom as they were trying scratch each other with their paws. Sometimes they would even hiss at each other.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the cane, it's the color that makes it more forgettable. And speaking of forgetting, I've been doing a lot of that lately.
"Why can I type at speed without errors when I don’t look at the keyboard, but one glance at it has me searching for the right keys." OMG, I know what you mean because it's the same with me. I can type really fast (and pretty accurately) without looking at the keyboard. However, the second I look down, I start tripping over my fingers. Also, whenever I have to type on someone else's computer/keyboard, I constantly make mistakes because I'm not used to the way the keyboard feels.
WOW...I can't believe you still have milkmen who deliver milk to your homes in the UK. Here in the States, that was something I saw only when I was a child. We had a milk box outside our door that the milkman would place the glass milk bottles in every week.
Have a great Sunday, my friend!
X to you and Charlie
Not too many milkmen around, Ron, but I see one or two most days. I don't drink milk these days so I get an occasional carton if visitors are expected.
DeleteMy cats wander about the house on warm summer nights, but on these cold winter nights they stay on my bed until dawn. It's annoying having to share the covers, but I forgive them.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope you have numerous canes instead of one or two. Perhaps you could keep them together in one place - similar to an umbrella rack. Wooden ones are definitely harder to see than bright metal ones.
It must be wonderful to have meals delivered, rather than worrying about cooking them. I'm surprised that you have a milkman. They seem to be extinct here in the USA. I haven't seen one since I was a small child.
Jon, I don't have a personal milkman... but I see one in the road almost daily. I do have a rack for canes and umbrellas but it isn't kept in the house. I have switched canes now and am using colourful one. Much better and I haven't lost it yet.
DeleteIt makes no sense at all, but stick with the metal cane anyway!
ReplyDeleteI have switched to metal, Joeh, and things are much better. Haven't lost it yet!
DeleteI loved reading this post; I felt like I’d spent a day with a friend.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat; strangely selfish but loving creatures they are. I miss him....

PS
I can’t comment except as “Anonymous”....I’m not sure why...?
Jackie....Have changed from teachers pet to this one.
DeleteAnd I can't reply because of the anonymous title. I think I've got you in sidebar so will check. What a pain!
ReplyDeleteIt always surprises me when people still have a milkman. The lady that cuts my hair still has one too, and she said it was useful when the kids were young as she didn't need to go out and buy it, which I understand, but now he arrives later and later each day.
ReplyDeleteGlad the Christmas lunch was good!
Perhaps the milk takes a well deserved lie-in! I would challenge him about the time if he was my milkman.
DeleteMy Mom uses a cane and walker intermittently; she will often take off with her cane and leave the walker behind. At least it's easier to find :)
ReplyDeleteOh the things we do when we get old!
