Boy and Girl
(by
me)
Boy
and
Girl
Play as kids
Each one doing
as the other
bids
Holding hands
Happy now
With this kiss
make the vow
Boy
and
Girl
No longer kids
Each one doing
as parent bids
Lays the law
down
far too young
to settle down
raising young
Boy
and
Girl
in war torn
state
love and tears
now separate
Shame on parent
who denied
the right to love
before bombs
descended
from
above
Long sad story in just a few fine words.
ReplyDeleteJoeh, as a friend said 'Well, it's certainly a different style'.
DeleteValerie, you are sooooooooooo multi-talented! I love the style in which you wrote this. What I really enjoy about your writing is that you can express yourself in many different genres and formats.
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so full-bodied yet, as joeh said in his comment....in so few words.
Have a fantastic weekend, my friend!
X
Good morning, Ron, and thank you for your comment. I look forward to reading them since they make me feel I've done something worthwhile. Hoping you have a great weekend with weather to suit x
ReplyDeleteGreat style of poetry. I use to write lots of poetry. Don't know why I stopped?
ReplyDeleteDave, I was experimenting with poetry but didn't get very far so went back to writing tales and books. I found poetry to be rather inhibiting. Do we ever get to see some of yours?
DeleteI wish your words weren't true, Val, but they certainly are. It's unfortunate that we continue to think war and bombs are the answer. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI do so agree with you, Matt. You too take care.
