MORE THIS AND THAT....

MORE THIS AND THAT….

1. About time I did another This and That...

2.Spent what is left of the afternoon watching two foxes. One was asleep, the other  trying to climb the bird table.

3. Charlie watched in great anticipation of a fox hunt. I told him, the only way he would capture a fox was to get out there and have a go.

4. This is my second attempt at This and That on account of my brain being a bit on the lazy side.

5. Ordered a pre-cooked Christmas lunch. Apparently all I have to do is heat it up and eat it up. Will report back.

6. Let down by family... a cousin's son called round for a chat. Only see him every other decade. On leaving he said he would come again in two days and bring his mother. Neither of them seen or heard!I I hate that.

7. Two neighbours, two cars, two flat batteries. Rather them than me.

8. Gets dark early now, roll on Spring and more clock changes..

9. I think there must be a party up the road, three young guys walked by wearing fancy paper hats. I wanted to yell IT ISN'T XMAS YET but I'm a coward.

10. Wishing you all....

A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
 AND
 A HAPPY NEW YEAR

  1. Keep Charlie inside, I think a fox is more than most cat could handle.

    1. Foxes and cats never go too near each other. I checked with experts and was told they both keep their distance from each other.

  2. A pre-cooked Christmas lunch sounds perfect to me. I hope it's good. Horrid to be let down by people when they say are going to do something then they don't. I hope you are doing something nice on Christmas day. Have a wonderful holiday. I'm off to a carol service now at our church.

    1. Hi Joe. I have just taken delivery of enough food for two weeks, all precooked and all just needing heating up. I am a regular customer.

  3. Valerie, I was in the process of writing you a comment when suddenly my computer screen went blank and the comment disappeared! So I have to start over.

I would advise Charlie to stay safely indoors and forget about chasing foxes. He might get into trouble. When I lived in Texas my yard was completely enclosed with a six-foot high wooden fence. Somehow a red fox managed to get in. He stayed all morning and then vanished. I never figured out how he got in or got out.

I hope your Christmas lunch will be satisfactory. Let us know. I bought a smoked ham for Christmas.

It's too bad that your long-lost relative failed to show up for the second visit. Perhaps you're better off without them??

I hope you have a very peaceful and pleasant Christmas. I prefer to spend the holidays entirely alone, with my cats. They are good company. Take care, Valerie and Merry Christmas!

    1. And a Merry Christmas to you, Jon. I don't worry about my cat, he knows how much distance to keep between him and the fox, and so does the fox. I know my Christmas lunch will be good, I am a regular customer now and always enjoy the food.

  4. How wonderful that you have foxes in your backyard, Valerie! I bet it's like watching a Walt Disney movie!

Love your idea of ordering a Christmas lunch. Easy, no clean-up, and I bet it will be delicious too!

Sorry to hear about your let down by your family. I don't like when people don't stand by their word.

"Two neighbours, two cars, two flat batteries. Rather them than me." HA! Your said it, better them than you. I would saying the same thing. I've had to deal with not only dead batteries before, but also flat tires. NOT fun.

Wishing you and Charlie a very Merry Christmas, dear friend! I'll be spending my Christmas day very quiet. I actually like to spend it that way. Low-keyed.

    X to you and Charlie!

  6. Merry 🎄 to you Valerie. When we lived in VA we would invite friends and neighbors to our house for a get together and perhaps this would work for other folks. Hope your pre-cooked dinner is delicious and that you and Charlie spend a peaceful holiday. Thanks for sharing you wonderful stories through your blog. Wishing you a very Happy New Year too.

    1. The best part of Christmas for me is receiving long distant phone calls. They really make my day. Have a good one yourself.

  8. How annoying it is indeed when people make promises they don't keep. They probably intend to do it at the time, but ungrateful as it sounds I am with you in NOT thinking that the thought is as good as the deed! Still, perhaps his mother was unable to make it. It is always delightful to watch wildlife. Urban foxes are a bit of a pest when they get into the dustbins but that is a small price to pay when they also give a lot of entertainment and interest, particularly to children. We had one in our communal garden that used to sidle up to people having picnics! what a cheeky thing he was, but to his credit he was gentle and friendly and did not intimidate anyone.
