SPAM

This post isn’t as long as it seems, since half of it can be ignored. You will soon see why.

I’m having such fun reading all the spam emails that end up in my mailbox. I particularly like the ending of one from Mr Sankara Bouda. NOT! I’m the one typing in blue, the bits in red are the highlights ... anything in tiny black text can be skipped *grins*.

Dear Friend,

This message might meet you in utmost surprise, however,it's just my urgent need for foreign partner that made me to contact you for this transaction. I am a banker by profession from Burkina faso in west Africa and currently holding the post of Director Auditing and Accounting unit of the bank.I have the opportunity of transfering the left over funds ($15.5 million
) of one of my bank clients who died along with his entire family on december 2003 in a plane crash. If you agree to my business proposal.further details of the transfer will be forwarded to you as soon as i receive your return mail. have a great day. Yours Faithfully MR.SANKARA BOUDA NB,
MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THIS TRANSACTION AS YOUR TOP SECRECT AND MAKE IT CONFIDENTIAL TILL WE RECEIVES THE FUND INTO THE ACCOUNT THAT YOU WILL PROVIDE TO THE BANK. DONT DISCLOSE IT TO ANY BODY IN YOUR COUNTRY "PLEASE", BECAUSE THE SECRECY OF THIS TRANSACTION IS AS WELL AS THE SUCCESS OF IT.

From:Mr.Samah Alshemmari
MANAGER National Bank of Abu-Dhabi,
Al Salam Branch Opposite ADNOC-FOD.,
bldg,.Salam St.Abu-Dhabi,

Dear Friend,

This letter must come to you as a surprise, but I believe it is only a day that people meet and become great friends and business partners. I am pleased to get across to you for a very urgent and profitable business proposal; I got your e-mail address through an internet yellow page web directory and decided to contact you and ask for your assistance in this urgent matter, requiring trust and confidentiality,

I have cut out the main part of the email since it took up the space of two A4 pages, but had to include this ending:

Your Valid Direct Tel/Mobile/Fax Number.
(2) Your Full Name:
(3) Current Resident Address.
(4) Your Private E-mail Address.
(5) Your Occupation:
(6) Your Age and Sex:
(7) Your Nationality:

YEAH, RIGHT, AND WHILE I’M ABOUT IT PERHAPS I SHOULD INCLUDE MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!

Then I shall furnish you with due process of concluding this transaction Without any delay.
Send your reply to this email:nbad4532@yahoo.co.jp
Regards
Mr.Samah Alshemmari
,

AND THEN THERE WAS A MESSAGE FROM PABLO PROCTOR WHO PROMISED TO TELL ME THE ANCIENT SECRETS OF NIGHTS OF PLEASURE. Of course, I would have had to open the link to find out and that was something I didn’t dare do :O)

I guess viewing these things with humour is the best way of dealing with irritating spam.

  1. How funny that you should post these this morning because I was looking through my own blog spam folder this morning and picking out bits for a future post! Some of them are just unbelievable, aren't they?

I think the email ones are better, actually. I would like to know just who falls for this transparent trickery. He's picked you out specially, and yet he doesn't even know your name, yet alone your address, email or profession? Yeah, right!!

He's picked you out for a sucker!

  4. I never thought to look in my spam folder! We can look at these with humor, but sadly, you just KNOW there is someone, maybe elderly, who doesn't know better and falls for this! FOR shame!!

  7. Hi Jay, he, she or it got it wrong about me... I'm no sucker :O)

Brian, it is sad that some people fall for this kind of rubbish. I can't imagine who, though, I mean it is so TRANSPARENT that it is spam mail.

Mel, I hadn't used to bother but then I decided so long as I didn't click on any links it was safe to have a look. They are so FUNNY, don't you think?

Pat, I kind of hope that if we all published the spam in our blogs it might (MIGHT?) get out the message that we know what their little games are.

Ron, you're right, it does give us bloggers something to post about. Only today I received another beauty (!) but I think I've said enough for one week....bwhahaha.

  8. I hate wasting time on these but one of the ways I've found to reduce this bs is NOT to subscribe to any feeds, sites etc, unless I'm really sure I'll want their newsletters etc. It helps but it doesn't take care of all of them.

    Great post!

  12. You have made me realize how much I am missing by pushing the SPAM blocker. Keep me posted with further SPAMs, okay?

  13. I know people for them and that is what is so disturbing because it is so ridiculously written. I wrote a spammer back once with a list of my own demands before I would cater to his but he never wrote back. Have a lovely weekend, Val.

  14. Hello Geraldine, nice to meet you. You're right about subscriptions. I don't subscribe to anything or 'LIKE' anything but somehow my email address has been selected for the occasional spam. I get a laugh out of it, and never EVER click on links.

Susan, I will post further funnies as and when they're received.

Hi Pearl, even though it's hard to imagine people taking these things seriously, I do agree that some do. Sad!
